Dot Hacker Release Debut Self-titled EP

Dot Hacker based out of Los Angeles have just released their debut self-titled EP on 2/21 via ORG Music. Dot Hacker was formed in 2008, by four already established musicians having recorded and toured with Beck, Gnarls Barkley, PJ Harvey, Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Butthole Surfers and Broken Bells amongst many others.  Klinghoffer, the band’s lead vocalist, also currently plays guitar with Red Hot Chili Peppers. Don’t be mislead, this band does not sound at all like RHCP (luckily) but instead sound more like Mogwai mixed with Jesus and Mary Chain and M83.

MP3: Dot Hacker – Order / Disorder

Listen to Dot Hacker – Eye Opener below.

Dot Hacker will play The Troubadour on 3/14 in L.A, and plan to play more shows in 2012 to support the release of their debut full length album, Inhibition.

Music Video Addiction: Sunday February 26, 2012 Edition

After more than a week of sickness and being pumped up on meds, I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of kicking this bug. These are the videos I was enjoying while under the influence of Benadryl. Hope you enjoy.

Black Marble: Backwards - gloomy track and video…loving it.

The Twilight Sad: Another Bed - such a catchy chorus.

Tennis: Origins - something grabs me about this track, but not sure what.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra: Strangers Are Strange - new UMO.

Kate Wax: Dust Collision - cool, eerie track and stylish video.

Hodgy, Domo Genesis and Tyler, The Creator: Rella - dirty vid of the day.

Thanks for watching. We post the music video picks every Sunday so pop back in again next week and look back in the archives for older editions.

Thanks,
Cameron from Culture Addicts

Mystery Jets Reveal Details Of Fourth Album

Mystery Jets have revealed the details of their fourth album, ‘Radlands’ which will be out on April 30, 2012 through Rough Trade Records.

Blaine Harrison from the band explains a bit about recording in America, and why they chose the album title.

“We’ve always wanted to make a record in America and after touring Serotonin the time felt perfect to go and do it. Our first three albums were entirely conceived and recorded in London so going out to Austin felt like the furthest place from everything we knew. We arrived with a handful of songs, but one in particular felt like it captured the spirit of why we had come there. It was called Radlands (a fusion of the 1970s Terrence Malick film ‘Badlands’ and Redlands, Keith Richard’s Sussex estate), which is also what we named our studio; a big old wooden house on the banks of the Colorado river. All we brought on the plane were the guitars on our backs, so we ended up borrowing all this amazing valve gear from an old guy called jack who ran a little studio up in the hills-which is why the songs sound the way they do. In the daytime we wrote lyrics on the porch and in the evenings a family of Deer would gather in the back yard to hear us play. Some nights we drove into town to drink and bring people back to play on the songs.”

Tracklisting:

1 Randlands
2 You Had Me At Hello
3 Someone Purer
4 The Ballad Of Emmerson Lonestar
5 Greatest Hits
6 The Hale Bop
