Today, Gary Numan released the video for his track, I Am Dust, which is lifted from his latest album, ‘Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)’. The video is directed by Logan Owlbeemoth and uses Tachyons+ innovative video technology. Tachyons+ is a video glitch synth designing team that modifies vintage video gear to create new ways of crafting visual productions for video artists around the world. Watch the video via YouTube below.
This video was made using a Tachyons+ video glitch synth effected live via HI-8 camera and a CRT television captured by a modern digital camera. No computer post production was used in the making of this video.
It’s quite fitting that this video was released this week since I just saw Gary Numan’s live set at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto last Thursday (March 27). I thought I would do a quick review of the show. The new album, ‘Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)’ is more guitar-bent if you are only familiar with the ‘Replicas’ and ‘The Pleasure Principle’. Almost half of the set were tracks lifted from the new album, but he did still throw in some old tracks like a heavier version of Metal and crowd-pleaser Cars. You could definitely see that Gary Numan is a seasoned performer and enjoyed playing every track during his set drawing energy from the crowd.
Stand-out tracks were my personal favourite Down In The Park, new track Everything Comes Down To This, and Are Friends Electric?, which become a full-on crowd sing along. I will definitely check him out the next time he comes through town.
