BOYTOYBrooklyn quartet BOYTOY has announced their sophomore album ‘Night Leaf,’ which will be out on April 27 via PaperCup Music worldwide except Stolen Body in the UK/Europe and Burger Records (cassette-only). They also shared the first single, Mary Anne, which you can take a listen to via Soundcloud below.

Saara Untracht-Oakner and Glenn Michael Van Dyke formed BOYTOY in 2013, sharing a love of surfing, skating and rock & roll. They released their self-titled debut EP in 2014, their debut album ‘Grackle‘ in 2015 and a slew of 7″ singles, revamping the line up in 2016 to feature drummer Chase Noelle (ex-Thelma and The Sleaze) & bassist Lena Simon (La Luz). They’ve toured North America and Europe extensively, last year supporting Midnight Oil and Surfer Blood, while playing Growler Six Festival in Los Angeles.

‘Night Leaf’ was recorded with producer Kyle Mullarky’s (Allah Las) at his Pump House Studio in Topanga Canyon, outside of Los Angeles.  BOYTOY’s sound ebbs and flows between natural harmony and destruction—embodying the bright LA grooves of the 1960’s with heavy guitar riffs snatched New York City’s Lower East Side of the 1970’s.

Of the single, Untract-Oakner stated:  Mary Anne is about the feeling that comes with a new crush, a new lust. No matter how brief, that excitement, that electricity, takes over your body and consumes your head-space. It lingers after that person is gone, like psychedelic trails that you can still feel, until they dissipate into a faded dream.

‘Night Leaf’ is a summer-time strut down a New York City sidewalk as the sun slips behind the horizon where cement meets the shore and waves crash on pavement.
