Tricky is back with another gem from his upcoming record, and this one’s a real mood. He shares I’m Yours, featuring Bristol vocalist Mitch Sanders, the third track to surface from his forthcoming album ‘Different When It’s Silent’, out July 17th via False Idols.

I’m Yours is a striking collaboration — Sanders, who shares Tricky’s Bristol roots, brings a warm sense of community to a record built on darker, more brooding textures. Against distorted guitars, pulsing rhythm and haunting electronics, Sanders’ light, melodic vocal cuts straight through the shadows, playing off Tricky’s own murmured, unsettling presence. The result feels both intimate and restless, another shade in an album that keeps shifting between light and dark.

Each single so far has shown a different side of the record — the raw emotional pull of Out Of Place, the hypnotic electronic haze of Because I Don’t Know, and now the driving guitar riff of I’m Yours.

About the Album

Different When It’s Silent‘ marks Tricky’s 15th studio album and his first full-length under his own name in six years, since 2020’s ‘Fall To Pieces’. Recorded between his home in France and sessions back in Bristol, the record reconnects with the distinctive sonic world he first carved out on his groundbreaking debut, ‘Maxinquaye’.

Not that Tricky’s been idle in the meantime — he’s stayed prolific through side projects like Lonely Guest, ‘Fifteen Days’ with producer Mike Theis (as Theis Thaws), and 2025’s ‘Out The Way’ with Marta Złakowska, all via his own label, False Idols.

Interestingly, returning to a solo Tricky album wasn’t even the original plan. “In my mind it was another side project,” he says of the material. It took his manager Alan McGee to set him straight: “Mate, this is a Tricky album. This is the best thing since Maxinquaye.

Across fourteen tracks, Tricky moves fluidly between skeletal blues, distorted guitars, stark hip-hop rhythms and electronics — a collision of reflection and restless experimentation from one of modern music’s most distinctive voices.
