Jack White’s ‘Frozen Charlotte’ is here — and it bites

Jack White doesn’t do quiet exits or quiet returns. Hot off the acclaim of 2024’s No Name, the Rock Hall guitar wizard has dropped his seventh studio album, ‘Frozen Charlotte,’ out now via Third Man Records — and it sounds like a man who’s still got plenty left to burn.

Produced and mixed by White himself, ‘Frozen Charlotte’ was born straight out of the road: instead of taking a breather after the massive No Name world tour, White and his band walked straight back into Third Man Studio in Nashville and started laying down these 13 tracks. The result is raw, blues-soaked, and a little unhinged in the best possible way.

The Single: Neighbors Blues

Closing out the record is the ferocious Neighbors Blues, out now at all DSPs and streaming services. It follows the earlier scorcher Dollar Bill, which had outlets buzzing about White’s knack for turning abstract, disconnected phrases into something that hits like a tone poem on money and what we’ll do for it.

Also worth your ears: Derecho Demonico and G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs, both of which got the full arena treatment during White’s sixth appearance on Saturday Night Live.
