Anxious unleash heavy, blown-out new single ‘Secret Weapon’

Anxious are back, and they’ve turned the amps up past the red line. Their new single Secret Weapon is out today, and it’s a big, blown-out slab of alternative rock with riffs to spare.

It follows last month’s Don’t Move, and together the two tracks mark the first new music from the band since their acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Bambi’. That record turned heads at Pitchfork, Stereogum, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, The Line Of Best Fit, and plenty more. Secret Weapon keeps the ambitious, widescreen songwriting Anxious do so well and gives it a heavier, riffier spin.

The Story Behind the Song

Guitarist/co-vocalist Dante Melucci explains what’s behind the track:

“The ‘Secret Weapon’ is the business of music, the weaponization of the stats and current fads to decide who you are as an artist, and who you should strive to be. I’m seeing artists with this objectivity in their style, their songs, that to me just comes across as desperate; I don’t believe that something beautiful can be created in a lab.”
