Ain’t share new single ‘Pirouette’

South London’s Ain’t is back with a burst of energy—dropping their brand-new single, Pirouette, via Fear Of Missing Out Records. Alongside the release, they’ve just announced their very first headline show, set for June 12 at London’s Waiting Room.

After an electrifying year marked by high-profile showcases at spots like So Young, Rough Trade, The Alt Escape, and The Windmill, and following the buzz generated by last summer’s singles Oar and Teething, the quintet is now taking their sound to a whole new level. Mixing the stranger edges of ‘90s guitar, post-punk, and shoegaze, Pirouette blends nostalgia with a fresh twist. Recorded with Theo Verney, the track showcases a rich tapestry of textured hooks, layered vocals, and a rhythm section that won’t let you sit still. A homemade-style VHS video perfectly captures the ‘90s vibe, adding a quirky visual edge to the sound.

Guitarist and vocalist George Ellerby reflects on the creative process:

“I wrote ‘Pirouette’ during a time of change—a breakup, a lackluster romance, and the chaos of shifting flat shares. It felt like everything was on the brink of transformation. By the time we hit the practice room, the full band was in place, and the song became an ode to new beginnings, even as parts of the past lingered.”

Already a live favourite during their recent shows in 2024, Pirouette is a highlight on their current tour with THUS LOVE. Their tour schedule is buzzing with energy, including appearances at The Great Escape, Dot to Dot, Get Together Festival, and more. Here’s a taste of what’s coming up:

• April 1-3: More support gigs (Cardiff, Brighton, Ramsgate) plus Outer Town Festival in Bristol
• May: Festival runs at Wanderlust (Southampton), Get Together (Sheffield), and The Great Escape (Brighton); plus additional shows in London (supporting LOWERTOWN), Bristol, and Nottingham
• June 12: The headline show at London’s Waiting Room
