Take This to Heart Records will be releasing the sophomore LP from Barely Civil, which is titled ‘I’ll Figure This Out,’ on September 4th. The record was produced by Chris Teti (TWIABP, Fiddlehead), mastered by Dan Coutant (Lemuria, Weatherbox), and follows 2018’s debut album ‘We Can Live Here Forever’.

Lead single Bottom of the Lake is out now with a visual directed by Benjamin Lieber (Free Throw, Citizen). Watch the video via YouTube below.

Barely Civil finally made it out of Wisconsin. Vocalist/guitarist Connor Erickson is arguing with GPS directions, kicking himself out of Milwaukee apartments, and backsliding into a murky headspace. After torching his throat, Erickson returns to his calmer tone to deliver a grim admission: “I said we’d live here forever if you’d like. It’s a bullshit and common lie, but it’s one that helps me sleep at night.” Barely Civil isn’t finding home in familiar haunts anymore. The places they call home are now in the unlikeliest of places: nestled between coping skills and self-improvement. Wrestling with one’s faults is complex, imperfect, and uncomfortable, but it’s a necessary step in any story.

‘I’ll Figure This Out,’ Barely Civil’s sophomore full-length, offers temporary solutions to this existential concern. The band’s massive live energy translates into concise, yet expansive arrangements. Box for My Organs slams sonic triumph against plainspoken self-doubt. Grief and guilt are on the same plane in Bottom of the Lake, while the band contemplates the sustainability of burning their twenties at both ends on The Worst Part of December

I feel like our music revolves around the process of analyzing who we are and where we come from,” Erickson explains. “Possibly, even, where we belong.” ‘I’ll Figure This Out’ attempts to answer those questions while turning completely inward. It’s a darker chapter in a constantly evolving discography. The only way out, it seems, is through.

The LP will be released digitally and on 12″/CD via Take This to Heart on September 4th.
