For Japanese legends Boris, 2019 has been a year of opening and closing chapters. The trio released a new double-LP ‘LφVE & EVφL,’ reissued their seminal albums ‘Akuma No Uta’ and ‘Feedbacker,’ and just closed out a North American tour alongside experimental duo Uniform. In celebration of the year’s myriad milestones, Boris has released a video for their droning torch song Shadow of Skull. Watch the video clip via YouTube below.

Continuing to tinker and toil with their sound since the 2017 release of ‘DEAR’, Boris have pivoted onward a more organic, non-grid literary style that ‘LφVE & EVφL‘ showcases. An unsurprisingly ambitious pursuit of new sound and showcase of old hallmarks, ‘LφVE & EVφL’ exists as two independent works, encapsulating conflicting connotations. Interweaving and entangling with one another, the tracks that comprise ‘LφVE & EVφL’ gradually erode, becoming utterly singular.  Beginning their journey in 1992, Boris boldly conquers sonic frontiers few musicians fear to tread. Where words like “explosive” and “thunderous” fail to capture the scope of the trio’s wall-of-sound approach, Boris erects soundscapes that demand all five senses to be fully experienced, employing copious amounts of lighting and billowing smoke to win over zealous fans in every corner of the globe.

‘LφVE & EVφL‘ is available now via Third Man Records here, and ‘Akuma No Uta‘ here and ‘Feedbacker’ here.
