More about Braves? Singled out by DIY Mag as one of the best new artists coming out of Australia’s most isolated city, PerthBraves draw influence from music histories beyond their hometown: they tread in the footsteps of Southern Californian punk heroes FIDLARand the lo-fi pop rock of Glaswegian guys PAWS, and swing by the scrappy indie rock coat-tails of Ohio’s Cloud Nothings. Braves write upbeat garage tracks with catchy, honest choruses about being fuck-ups. Huge riffs and hooks ahoy.

Braves’ music is both danceable and dynamic, music that reconciles real life with recklessness; listen to them riding around your hood, put Braves on at house parties, take them along on a road trip… they’re as much the soundtrack to your 3pm hangover breakfast as they are the fun, sweaty basement bash that got you there. Speaking of parties, Braves have played support to a host of international and interstate talents in their time as a band, including The Jungle Giants, Last Dinosaurs, Loon Lake, and more, and have been selected as Featured Artists by national radio taste-makers triple j.

Rehearsing out the back of singer Alex’s house, the easygoing lads’ formula for their fun-infused tunes and who-gives-a-shit lyrics comes from making sure that rehearsal is fueled by cheap beer and cheaper pizza. Things are pretty chill in Braves… they might shout about how boring they are, but their music is anything but.
