Strut Records Announce Second Album In Their FAC. DANCE Series

shark vegasStrut Records will release the second album in the FAC. DANCE series on September 18th which brings together sought after 12″ versions and rarities from Manchester’s legendary Factory Records. Berlin-based New Wave band band Shark Vegas are featured on the compilation and you can watch rare 80s footage of the band playing their synth heavy track You Hurt Me lifted from FAC. DANCE 2  below.

“FAC. DANCE 02″ reveals and presents Factory’s varied early forays into dance territory, widening the story laid down in Volume One. Ghostly International Sign Electronic Duo Beacon

Ghostly International is excited to announce the newest addition to its roster, Brooklyn-based electronic duo Beacon. Known for their darker, creeping r&b sound, combined with a strong bass and electronic music influence, the band will release their Ghostly debut, an EP titled “For Now” on October 2nd.

Listen to the first single, Feeling’s Gone below via Soundcloud.

Tracklist:
01. It Won’t Be Long
02. Safety’s Off
03. Pulse
04. Feeling’s Gone
05. Into The Night

Musically, this is perhaps the best realization yet of Beacon’s darker, creeping R&B sound, anchored by a strong bass and electronic music influence. ”For Now” is the second EP by duo, five songs that continue the band’s exploration of the dark spaces under the surface of human relationships. Themes of fractured love are prominent, particularly the distinction between love and lust, and what happens when the former falls away, leaving only the latter to fester: as Mullarney sings on third track “Pulse”, “It’s a long walk from lust to love… And if I get caught, it’s not my fault.”

Not so much the party and the after party as the party and the aftermath, the abiding impression left by For Now is of that strange, empty time of night when the party’s over and everyone’s gone home… but you can’t sleep, so you sit and stare into the dark and wait for the dawn to come.

Beacon first got the attention of the music world last year with the release of their well received debut EP, “No Body” , which can be downloaded for free here.

Shit Robot Announces New 12" Release

Marcus Lambkin aka Shit Robot returns with his first new material since his debut LP, 2010′s “From The Cradle To The Rave”. After spending much of 2010 and 2011 touring the globe with his live show, Shit Robot is back with “The Green Machine”.

The first result of his latest studio work are Teenage Bass b/w Space Race, which will be released on vinyl and digitally via DFA on May 21. It’s the first in a series of releases called “The Green Machine”, which will plateau with an album in Spring 2013.

Lead track Teenage Bass has an EBM bassline and rave alert sirens, before expanding further with key changing chords and arpeggiator. The hypnotic Space Race is a distant relative of 2007’s Chasm – a meandering, melodic, star-gazing Robo-techno track. Speaking about the new single, Shit Robot said: “After the album, I just wanted to go back to my roots and make some dance 12″s, music for people to get drunk and jump around to.”

Listen to a sample of the single below.

A limited number of each of The Green Machine 12” releases will feature customized, hand-made sleeves available via the DFA webstore.

To mark the new release, Shit Robot has announced a series of live/DJ dates, with more soon to be announced.

Tour Dates:
5/25 – San Francisco
7/01 – Chicago

JD Samson + MEN Release Latest EP

JD Samson & MEN release their new “Time EP” on Tuesday, May 8 via their MEN Make Music moniker which is the second of 4 EPs the band will release during 2012. After releasing the self-produced Next EP in February, the Time EP with the tracks “Time”, “Take It Away” and “Make Him Pay” (AKA JK Remix) includes production work from CHAINS (which is Alex Suarez and Ryland of Cobra Starship). The standout track is Take It Away with machine gun rhythms, driving guitar riffs and singalong friendly lyrics.

Watch the video for original version of Make Him Pay below.

MP3: MEN: Make Him Pay (AKA JK Remix Dub)

“Working with Alex from CHAINS was an incredible collaboration. As our first real foray into production with an outside producer, we felt comfortable and excited to take the songs to a new level,” says JD who met CHAINS while writing with Cobra Starship earlier this year.

These four EP releases are true to the unique and collaborative style of earlier MEN releases, such as the partnership for a tour only split 7″ with Brazil’s CSS, and “Who Am I to Feel So Free” featuring Antony (from Antony & The Johnsons).

JD Samson + MEN is Le Tigre’s JD Samson and Michael O’Neill who focus on the energy of live performance and radical potential of dance music. The band will tour Europe this August, and U.S. in the Fall. Their music speaks of issues such as wartime economies, sexual compromise, and the demand for liberties through lyrical content and an inventive, high-energy stage show.
