Young Magic Creates SSENSE Mix + Tour With Purity Ring

Young Magic have released a SSENSE mix which combines Martin Denny’s exotic piano jazz before weaving into Japanese band Mariah’s melancholic single, Door to the Heart. Young Magic’s collaboration with Montreal duo Purity Ring, Grandloves, with its winding landscapes and ethereal vocals soak into splintered samples of Arca’s DOEP and later, S.Maharba’s haunting vocals, before the introduction of Hype Williams’ South African dance influences and Icelandic band Samaris’ eerie electronica

Listen to the SSENSE mix below via Soundcloud.

Comprised of New Yorkers Isaac Emmanuel, Melati Malay and Michael Italia, Young Magic formed in 2010 out of mutual music interests and self-proclaimed restless spirits. Their first full-length LP, “Melt”, released via Carpark Records in 2012 combined field-recordings from their individual travels around the world with varied samples of soul, psychedelic, trip-hop and electronica that eventually became a key ingredient to their lauded experimental dream-pop sound.

New Release: The Juan Maclean – Everybody Get Close

Since the release of 2009′s The Future Will Come, Juan Maclean’s last album, he has created remixes for artists like Chairlift, Matthew Dear, The Tough Alliance, Yoko Ono and Stevie Nicks. In 2010, Maclean secured a place amongst the dance world’s top tier when he contributed a volume to the respected DJ-Kicks series. Juan also appeared on both the Holy Ghost! Static on the Wire! EP and Shit Robot’s “Grim Receiver”. He has been tirelessly DJ’ing worldwide.

Although he has been busy, people are still awaiting an official Maclean album. To satisfy these people, he has released Everybody Get Close, a digital only collection of Maclean’s material featuring new music, re-mastered tracks and remixes from some of his most talented colleagues. Juan Maclean and Nancy Whang have begun work on The Juan Maclean’s 3rd LP for DFA Records. In the meantime, Everybody Get Close, serves as a ‘stop-gap’ compilation and fitting reminder of Juan Maclean’s contribution to both the dance and indie music communities. Everybody Get Close is available now through iTunes.

Introducing a Hot New Mixtape – Le Castle Vania

Le Castle Vania’s brand new mixtape, “The Bulletproof Tiger Mixtape Vol.1″ which is actually his first publicly available mixtape! With driving tracks like his own ‘Zero Machine’ which samples a guitar hook from Smashing Pumpkins and ‘Starter’ from Boys Noize…as well as tracks from Toxic Avenger, Designer Drugs, and Fake Blood it is a solid mix. For a full track listing, check out the post on his website.

A little about Le Castle Vania - He is based in Atlanta (real name Dylan Eiland. He has DJed with some of today’s hottest acts, such as Justice, MSTRKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco, Busy P, Kavinsky, Soulwax, Surkin, Para One, The Presets, Steve Aoki and Crystal Castles. He’s also an avid producer and engineer, writing tracks from scratch and remixing his favorite bands.

His signature sound combines grinding disco punk with strong electronic beats and catchy synth leads, resulting in banging electro music that is dark and dirty but somehow equally uplifting and dancey. You can hear this throughout “The Bulletproof Tiger Mixtape Vol.1″.

We are looking forward to hearing his next mixtape offering.

Cheers,
YPB x
