Banksy Resurfaces With New Sculpture
Banksy resurfaced to unveil his latest sculpture called Cardinal Sin which is an 18-century stone bust of a priest with its face cut off and replaced with common bathroom tiles. It is a blatant dig at the Catholic church for its child abuse scandals and their subsequent cover-ups.
The sculpture was unveiled at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, England, where sits next to 17th Century religious art including church altarpieces and other religious sculptures.
“The sculpture very clearly contains a message. When you look at it and see the tiles that have been applied to the sawn-off face, you immediately get the impression of those pixelated images of suspected criminals you see on screen or in a newspaper photograph.” said Reyahn King, director of art galleries at National Museums Liverpool.
Banksy has come out to remark, “I guess you could call it a Christmas present. At this time of year it’s easy to forget the true meaning of Christianity – the lies, the corruption, the abuse.” Again, Banksy doesn’t disappoint. Nice work!
Spin Gallery Gig – Oct 25th, 2007
We played our first gig post-studio this past Thursday at Spin Gallery in Toronto as part of the In The Mix sessions. Thanks for Hri and Luis with In The Mix and VJ Toute Suite for asking us to play. We had a good turnout – thanks to everyone who made it out to support us! We had an amazing time playing all the new material…it was mostly instrumental. We even had some interpretive dance going on behind us.
We ran through a 23 min set:

Outro – Eyes
We are planning to pull together a full vocal set in very early 2008, so connect with us at the official Your Pretend Boyfriend MySpace to keep up-to-date about our upcoming gigs.
