I had heard a lot of buzz about Digits over the past little bit by The Fader, The Guardian, and the Toronto Star, and was intrigued by the Street Violence video. When I went to Wrongbar to check him out for Canadian Music Fest 2013, I was surprised by his minimal set-up with Microkorg, midi keyboard, trigger / looping pedal and laptop, and lack of lighting / projections. There was a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that this was going to be a total disaster, but as soon as Digits started his first beat, I was fully on-board.

HAERTS is a band based in New York but its members are originally from Germany, England, and the United States. HAERTS are Nini Fabi, Ben Gebert, Garrett Ienner, Derek McWilliams, and Jonathan Schmidt. The band’s first single, Wings, was produced in collaboration with Jean-Philip Grobler (aka St. Lucia) and their debut album is due in 2013.
