Louisville’s dark post-punk/goth artist Bedroom Wounds have shared a new single and striking accompanying music video for Hold Down. Along with the release of Hold Down, Bedroom Wounds has announced that their debut full-length, ‘Kink’, is set for release on December 18th via Mind Over Matter Records (vinyl pre-order).
The enticingly dark and cold music video for Hold Down pulls the viewer deeper in as the frontman, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Kristian Kyle Ratliff, clings to the chains that bind his mind to lust and loss. Directed, shot and edited by Louisville visual artist Errick Easterday (Chamber, Boundaries, Varials). On Hold Down, Kristian explains, “Singing about intrusive thoughts of existence and a heavy heart.” Check out the video clip via YouTube below.
On Hold Down, Bedroom Wounds has tapped into the darkest parts of their sound with a pulsating rythym section throughout, all while leaving room for catchy synth melodies in the backdrop. Kristian’s vocals lend to both the crooning influence of Peter Steele (Type O Negative) just as much as they tend to soar high above in the chorus. Bedroom Wounds may touch on post-punk bands of the past, but they’ve successfully stretched beyond the norm and have crafted a modern sound all their own.
