Dead Stars will release their new LP, ‘Perfect Patterns’, on September 1st. A follow-up to last year’s ‘Bright Colors‘ and 2014’s ‘Slumber,’ it still features plenty of fuzzed-out guitars, catchy pop hooks, and a touch of ’90s nostalgia, but with a more minimalist song structure and stripped-down arrangements than past releases.
Album track Smarter finds the Brooklyn band doing what they do best: pairing crunchy guitar riffs with slacker-esque lyrics and an undeniably catchy chorus. You can listen to the track via Soundcloud below.
Exploring themes of materialism, addiction, and getting older, Dead Stars’ third LP is their most honest and intimate release to date. Written during a time when everything around the band seemed to be changing at warp speed, they focused on the one thing that hadn’t changed: their common love of playing loud, energetic indie rock. If anything, they’ve become more comfortable saying what they want to say, which comes through lyrically on the new album.
The band will celebrate the release of ‘Perfect Patterns’ at Brooklyn’s Sunnyvale on September 1st — more info here.
