Melbourne, Australia five-piece Delivery have shared a new single, Operating At A Loss, alongside the announcement of their new album ‘Force Majeure’ out January 17 via Heavenly Recordings.
Operating At A Loss starts with a rumble of drums and predatory bass before exploding out of the speakers, a punk rock new wave kick that will propel listeners through a brick wall.
Of the track, Delivery say: “I’ve never really worked in a proper office, but ‘Operating At A Loss’ is what I imagine goes on around the professional workplace. Lots of business jargon, dudes in suits climbing the corporate ladder, plenty of sentiments like “you’ve got to spend money to make money” etc. To be fair, I actually do like that phrase although this song is more about the first component than the second one. I also like playing guitar, and on this occasion I made up some chords and told the band to play them on repeat so I could do a big solo. “You win some, you lose some” etc.”

Without doubt one of the most exciting bands in Australia right now, Melbourne’s five piece garage punk heroes Delivery follow their 2022 album ‘Forever Giving Handshakes’ (4* NME, 8/10 Clash) with a twelve track battering ram of an album that builds hugely on the promise that their lockdown-born debut showed.
‘Force Majeure’ (rarely does a title so aptly describe the contents), which arrives on January 17 via Heavenly Recordings, opens with the controlled explosion of recent single Digging The Hole and doesn’t let up apart from occasional journeys into post punk territory on the Television-esque New Alphabet and the wonderfully Wire-ish What Else. Across the record, the guitars bite and scratch and the rhythm section locks behind them in perfect time and the listener grabs on for dear life and just tries to keep holding on. This is an album of urgent, joyous noise made by your new favorite band.
Selling out headline shows from Melbourne to Berlin, Delivery recently were one of the highlights of both the Golden Plains and Meadow Festivals in their native Australia before which they played a 20+ date EU tour which culminated in a show with Fat Dog at the Windmill Brixton. Delivery have also supported Wednesday, Pond and Tropical Fuck Storm amongst many others.
