Etsy and Ten Thousand Coffees have announced a national partnership that enables artists and designers to network with established Etsy sellers and other creative industry professionals. With the launch of a new Maker category, aspiring creatives now have an online platform to directly access experts from the maker community, and request a coffee to exchange ideas and experiences.

Launched in January 2014, Ten Thousand Coffees enables experiences to move people forward in their careers by providing access to mutually beneficial conversations between those in the next generation and industry professionals. With coffee as the currency of opportunity, tens of thousands of people, from up-and-comers to industry professionals, are gaining access to opportunities they otherwise would not have.

Those looking to start a new Etsy shop, or build on an existing one, have a lot to gain by connecting with established sellers on Ten Thousand Coffees. These conversations will help to inspire new businesses, generate opportunities, and offer young creatives the chance to learn from their more experienced counterparts.

“Ten Thousand Coffees is always eager to collaborate with innovative organizations who share our core values of enabling experiences that move people forward. We formed this partnership with Etsy because they are the leading online marketplace where aspiring creatives can pursue their passions and we are excited to bring our communities together to share ideas and insights,” said Dave Wilkin, Founder, Ten Thousand Coffees. “Through this partnership we’re providing the next generation of young creatives with opportunities beyond coffee conversations.”

To celebrate the partnership, Etsy is giving away a $5,000 merit-based award to kick-start one lucky creative’s online shop. Details will be announced in February.

“The Etsy mission to ‘re-imagine commerce in ways that build a more fulfilling and lasting world’ aligns with the philosophy behind Ten Thousand Coffees as both organizations believe that the power of people sharing their knowledge and experiences can make a difference on both a small and large scale,” said Erin Green, Country Manager, Etsy Canada. “We’re excited to offer this opportunity to connect established leaders in the Canadian Etsy and craft community with artistic millennials just starting off on their career path.”
