Girl In A Coma wins at the Independent Music Awards

Girl in a Coma

Today, San Antonio’s Girl In A Coma announced that they won for Best Independent / Alternative Rock Album at the Independent Music Awards in the first-ever tie in the history of the Awards, winning alongside Company of Thieves.

The band are by name / sound retro posturing with obvious Smiths influences (in a good way). Girl In A Coma have been progressing on a consistent path since Nina Diaz joined the band at age 13, and have found many high profile champions and friends along the way including Joan Jett (who signed them), Morrissey, Sia, Tegan and Sara, The Pogues and Amanda Palmer who have hand-selected them for tours.
