Gloorp is ready to shake things up with his new album, ‘Gloorp ‘Em Up’, dropping on April 25th via Jolt Music. This marks the sophomore effort from Philadelphia’s own drummer and producer Garrett Burke, whose creative mind fuses juke, jungle, and footwork into a sound that’s both daringly experimental and instantly captivating. The album boasts unique collaborations, featuring Orange Milk Records’ No-Metal maverick Morgan Garrett and the soulful wordsmith Myene Trimble-Yanu.
The buzz started with the release of the lead single, Angggry. Although it was the last track recorded, it perfectly encapsulates the project’s vibe—bold, complex, and textured. Burke explains, “I was looking for an in-your-face album opener, found a great vocal sample, and it just fell into place,” a sentiment that sets the tone for the record.
To celebrate the launch, Gloorp is hosting two electrifying shows: one on April 18th at Ruba Club in Philadelphia, and another on April 24th at Nightclub 101 in New York City. Expect to see an eclectic mix of performers, including Pedazo De Carne Con Ojo, Pamela and her sons, DJ Eve Swords, and more, all coming together for a night of unforgettable music.
ABOUT ‘GLOORP ‘EM UP’
‘Gloorp ‘Em Up’ (Jolt Music, 2025) is not just an album—it’s a sonic journey led by Burke’s inventive drumming and songwriting skills. After contributing to the art-rock ensemble Mothers and collaborating with Kristine Leschper on her 2022 solo project The Opening, Or Closing of A Door (ANTI, 2022), Burke steps into the spotlight with a project that feels like a cyberpunk version of Steve Reich. Eschewing heavy automation, every beat on ‘Gloorp ‘Em Up’ is a meticulously crafted moment, a nod to Burke’s high school marching band days and a playful jab at the modern reliance on AI in music production.
Tracks like Gangggsta—a fierce, electrifying collaboration with Morgan Garrett—channel the raw energy reminiscent of The Prodigy’s iconic Keith Flint. In contrast, Myene Trimble-Yanu’s poetic contribution to Gunk Body turns glitchy percussion into a meditative experience, like an unexpected yet thought-provoking twist in the rhythm. Whether you’re a detail-oriented listener or just there to feel the groove, ‘Gloorp ‘Em Up’ offers a rich tapestry of microtonal delights that’s sure to hit hard both on the club floor and in your headphones.
