Grimes releases video for new single ‘California’

Grimes reveals the new self-directed video for California, which was filmed in Los Angeles and Paris. The video features cameos from singer Megan James of Purity Ring, musician HANA, model Eric Cheng, musician Born Gold, and rising star Mac Boucher. Watch it via YouTube below.

Last week, Grimes performed Flesh Without Blood on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Grimes’ recent Coachella set turned fans and media into a frenzy, Noisey says she’s “poised to take over the whole world” and Rolling Stone called her a “mad scientist behind the control panel.” 

Grimes also recently finished a 20-date European tour, including a sold out show at London’s Brixton Academy. The Guardian and The Observer reviewed the show and gave it 5 stars, while Evening Standard, The Telegraph and Financial Times all gave the show 4 stars. She’ll perform at festivals including Glastonbury, Latitude, Lollapalooza and FYFamongst others and will open for Florence & The Machine in the U.S. this June.

Her latest album ‘Art Angels’ had prime placement on basically every 2015 End of Year album list, with #1 spots from NME, Crack, Stereogum and others. On the album NME said, ‘Not just a pop star, but perhaps the coolest musician on the planet’ and Uncut called it ‘iconoclastic set’. The Telegraph titled it ‘a fearless and fascinating record’. iTunes named ‘Art Angels’ the #1 Indie Album of 2015 and it finished out the year at #1 most added on CMJ Radio. Within the past year, Grimes graced the covers of Dazed, NME, ES Magazine, DIY, The FADER, Nylon and more.
