Hey Mother Death will be releasing their debut album ‘Highway’ via Paper Bag Records on July 10.  Today, the band have revealed the video for The Hills, which is lifted from ‘Highway.’ Watch it via YouTube below.

Hey Mother Death will perform as part of Halifax’s OBEY Convention on Saturday, May 23 at Fort Massey. Pre-order ‘Highway’ here.

The text of The Hills is about sad memories,” said the band. “We have been really lucky to be able to collaborate with great directors/ artists with very different approaches. It’s always really interesting finding the place between their spirit and ours in making videos. Harald Hutter directed the video for The Hills, and Harald is almost obsessed with memory and has explored it in almost all of his work so it was a perfect fit. Harald felt that the low-fi/abstract/pixelated quality of super VHS, would evoke an old personal memory being unfolded. We are also students at heart of Werner Herzog’s rogue cinema school so we forged shooting permits and broke into an abandoned, haunted, coastal mansion, which added its own low fidelity energy.”

Hey Mother Death recorded ‘Highway’ in Nova Scotia and France and mixed it with Bill Skibbe at the Key Club Recording Studio in Michigan, on Sly Stone’s Flickinger console from There’s A Riot Going On. The album was mastered in London, England by Mandy Parnell (Björk). Watch the duo’s breathtaking, JF Julian-directed video for the title track here.

Track list:
Highway 4:47
The Hills 6:02
Bad Sex 9:41
Snake Power 7:18
