Rising Hastings, UK-based three-piece HotWax have announced their debut EP, ‘A Thousand Times,’ will be released on May 19th via Marathon Artists. The band–vocalist/guitarist Tallulah Sim-Savage, bassist Lola Sam, and drummer Alfie Sayers–have also shared the title track single alongside an official video (watch via YouTube below), shot and edited by Sim-Savage. A dynamic ballad about a shift in a relationship, A Thousand Times careens from sultry, woozy verses to fiery, massive choruses. “The video is a compilation of clips from the time when me and Lola wrote the song to now,” explains Sim-Savage of the clip. “We wanted to create an intimate feeling by using nature and candid shots.”
The ‘A Thousand Times’ EP, produced by Ben Beetham (of Kid Kapichi) and mixed by Mike Horner (Hot Chip, HMLTD, Deaf Havana), is now available for pre-order here.
A Thousand Times and the EP announcement follow the release of HotWax’s blazing first single for Marathon Artists, Treasure. The song earned the young band major UK radio attention, including a ‘Next Wave’ feature on BBC Radio 1 as well as spins by BBC Radio 6’s Steve Lamacq, in addition to early press attention from Kerrang, DORK, and UPSET, among others.
With all three members at just 18 years old, HotWax is already dominating local scenes in the southeast of England and completed a mini-UK tour this month. They will join Pearl Hearts and Sad Boys Club to tour throughout the UK this spring before playing a string of summer festivals, including The Great Escape, Mad Cool, and All Points East. HotWax will also play a special hometown EP release show at Hastings Printworks on May 20th.

Forging post-punk, grunge, and alternative rock, HotWax have created a sound that is both unique and familiar. The band has been building their stagecraft since their early teens–cutting their teeth locally in Hastings, and later in Brighton’s punkier scene–delivering high-energy live performances with a powerhouse of a rhythm section, bass lines that twist and turn, and superfuzz guitar. Now, after initially self-releasing only a handful of tracks, HotWax arrive fully formed with their ‘A Thousand Times’ EP. “The EP is a homage to mine and Lola’s relationship growing up together and the arguments we’d have a thousand times,” explains Sim-Savage. “It includes themes of guilt, love, climate change, womanhood, contraception, anxiety, and endings.”
