HTRK, the enigmatic Australian duo of Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang, step into their 21st year with a dreamy, reflective gaze. In 2024, they’ve been weaving their presence through performances and installations, revisiting past work with a repress of their 2009 debut ‘Marry Me Tonight’ and 2021’s ‘Rhinestones,’ and reshaping their sound through the ‘String of Hearts’ covers/remix EP, featuring the likes of Loraine James and Liars. But now, the duo offers something fresh—a first glimpse of new material in years.

Enter Swimming Pool. A slow, sensuous dissolve into fluid uncertainty, its ambient drift pulls you into a space both serene and unsettled. Paired with the stunning B-side Puddles on My Pillow, this release finds HTRK once again balancing on that exquisite edge between intimacy and isolation.

As always, their music exists in opposing states—romance and solitude, a pounding heart and a restless mind, stark simplicity and layered complexity. Swimming Pool is noir-tinged bliss, laced with the shimmer of unseen spectres beneath its surface. A moment of calm? Or the quiet before the storm? With HTRK, nothing is ever still for long.
