Led by renowned pianist and artistic director, Andrew Burashko, and joined by\u00a0<\/span>the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and a stellar line up of singers from the Canadian indie-rock world, Art of Time will\u00a0<\/span>celebrate The Beatles\u2019 genre-defying album in one of the most inventive collaborations of the year. Taking up the\u00a0<\/span>album\u2019s iconic vocal leads are Andy Maize (Skydiggers), Craig Northey (The Odds), Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket)\u00a0<\/span>and Steven Page (formerly of Barenaked Ladies).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pepper\u00a0<\/span>has flavoured nearly half a century of popular music and yet\u00a0<\/span>remains as fresh sounding as it did upon initial release.\u00a0<\/span>Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>When I\u2019m Sixty-Four<\/span><\/em>, and\u00a0<\/span>With a\u00a0<\/span>Little Help From My Friends<\/span><\/em>\u00a0are a few of\u00a0<\/span>Sgt. Pepper<\/span>\u2019s hits that have become a permanent part of musical history,\u00a0<\/span>earning its designation by Rolling Stone as \u201cthe most important rock and roll album ever made.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The show reinterprets this classic collection of songs through arrangers from the worlds of classical, jazz and pop music.\u00a0<\/span>Blending familiar harmonies with diverse musical styles and bold new instrumental arrangements, the ensemble stays\u00a0<\/span>true to\u00a0<\/span>Sgt. Pepper\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>creative spirit while giving audiences an inventive new take on fan favourites. <\/span><\/p>\n

Vocalist Steven Page,\u00a0<\/span>describes the performance, not as a tribute show, but as an honest homage that honours the integrity of the songs\u00a0<\/span>without simply replicating them. In his words, \u201cIt\u2019s as structured as a classical music performance, but you have to bring\u00a0<\/em><\/span>the energy and prowess of a rock concert to deeply connect the songs to your audience who knows them so well.
