Canadian Music Week\u00a0(CMW) has announced their\u00a0partnership with\u00a0Hot Docs\u00a0to present\u00a0Music Docs at Hot Docs<\/em>. It will feature 12\u00a0documentaries with\u00a0compelling stories for music fans, ranging from illicit raves in Iran to the comeback of eighties electro-pop pioneer Gary Numan, and from an immersive tour of the American south, birthplace of the Blues, to Senegal where hip hop stars merge artistry and activism to mobilize a citizens movement during the country’s presidential campaign.<\/p>\n

Canadian Music Week has also partnered with Hot Docs to present free live music during Hot Docs’ opening weekend activities on April 30 and May 1, from\u00a09-11PM,\u00a0at The Mill Street Hub, located behind the Isabel Bader Theatre at 93 Charles Street West. Featuring artists\u00a0from Toronto and Montreal, the full line up will be announced in April.<\/p>\n

“We’re thrilled to partner with Canadian Music Week\u2014music is such an important part of documentaries, both in form and content. As their world class event runs parallel to Hot Docs, we love finding ways to bridge these interconnected worlds,”<\/em> say Hot Docs executive director Brett Hendrie.<\/p>\n

Film has been an important part of Canadian Music Week, and we look forward to seeing so many great music documentaries showcased alongside live music events in Toronto this spring,”<\/em> says Canadian Music Week President Neill Dixon.<\/p>\n

The screening times and descriptions of films included in the Music Docs At Hot Docs<\/em>\u00a0program are listed\u00a0below. In many cases, filmmakers will be in attendance for post-screening discussions.
