Major League Baseball All-Star and World Series legend\u00a0Joe Carter\u00a0<\/strong>will return to Toronto on Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23 for the Seventh Annual\u00a0Joe Carter Classic Golf Tournament<\/a>. To date, the celebrity charity event has raised over $1.5 million to benefit the Children’s Aid Foundation as well as other local children’s charities.<\/p>\n

Musical Guest Shaggy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The star-studded fundraiser, hosted at\u00a0Eagles Nest Golf Club<\/a>\u00a0in Maple, Ontario, will include the\u00a0Joe Carter Classic Celebrity Skins Game\u00a0on June 22, followed by the charity golf tournament on June 23. The event also features a celebrity-filled VIP after-party on June 23, featuring\u00a0<\/strong>musical performances by\u00a0Shaggy,\u00a0Naughty by Nature\u00a0and\u00a0JRDN.\u00a0Sponsored by Biion Footwear and Strellson, the after-party will be hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s all-star lineup will include Hollywood royalty such as\u00a0Anthony Anderson,\u00a0Chris Tucker\u00a0and\u00a0George Lopez, baseball stars\u00a0Bret Saberhagen,\u00a0Cito Gaston,\u00a0Barry Larkin\u00a0and\u00a0Tim Raines, hockey greats\u00a0Doug Gilmour\u00a0and\u00a0Paul Henderson, and NFL legend\u00a0Dan Marino.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m thrilled that we are able to continue to positively impact the lives of so many children through programs that help them grow and develop into well-rounded adults<\/em>,” said Joe Carter, event co-chair. \u201cIt is important that children have access to outlets that not only teach but foster a sense of community.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

The main event on June 23 includes a full day of golf, a gourmet dinner and awards ceremony, as well as a prestigious live auction. Proceeds from the tournament will\u00a0<\/em>benefitthe\u00a0<\/em>Children\u2019s Aid Foundation\u2019s Joe Carter Family Support Fund\u00a0<\/em>and the\u00a0Joe Carter Scholarship Endowment Fund\u00a0<\/em>along with other local charities.<\/em><\/p>\n

“We are so grateful for the support of the participants and sponsors of the Joe Carter Classic whose efforts continue to assist Toronto\u2019s must vulnerable children in need<\/em>,\u201d says Valerie McMurtry, president and CEO of the Children\u2019s Aid Foundation. \u201cThe proceeds raised from this annual event have created a legacy of support that will enable youth leaving care to pursue post-secondary education and will also strengthen at-risk youth and families, helping them break the cycle of abuse and neglect.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
