NPR said this about the track, &#8220;&#8230;like The Jesus And Mary Chain, Mazzy Star and Slowdive.\u00a0The guitar reverb is all wall-of-sound, waxing and waning over the bass and the vocals of Lucia Arias. Over the course of four and half minutes, it moves from creaky silence to lush, full-blown distortion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LXH073D-_fM?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lucia on the lyrical content of the track said,\u00a0<em>&#8220;a golf course close to our homes, where Cal, Christian, Nick (our first bassist) and I had hung out at various points.&#8221;<\/em> Arias adds, <em>&#8220;I wanted to conjure up an image of what it felt like to spend time with someone you absolutely adore in the silence, freedom, comfort and privacy of a car.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can watch the video for the\u00a02nd single <em>Metonymy, <\/em>which\u00a0featured on last week&#8217;s NPR All Songs Considered Podcast. Mixing &#8216;Helium&#8217; esq pop melody with basement tape collage and ethereal loop laden builds each track plays off the next, combining to make some of the most exciting genre mixing we&#8217;ve heard in awhile.<\/p>\n<p>While still in High School Fire Talk released the band&#8217;s debut EP &#8216;Moon Landing?&#8217; Shortly after the four founding members Lucia Arias, Cal Fish, Nick Kivien and Christian Billard departed to pursue various &#8220;life&#8221; journeys. Cal &amp; Christian attend BARD a liberal arts school a few hours north of New York City. Lucia stayed and Nick left the group to form Sunflower Bean another on the up young band signed to Fat Possum Records. &#8216;Laika,&#8217; Turnip King&#8217;s debut full length was written in between class sessions and fleshed out in a fairly brisk few recording sessions at legendary Water Music Hoboken &amp; Stormy&#8217;s Cabin in Up State New York by Ernie Indradat.
