We discussed everything from food trends to Star Trek: The Next\u00a0Generation.\u00a0The video is more near-future\u00a0than distant-future, with recognizable technology and modern protein sources.\u0094<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Future Politics,&#8217;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Austra&#8217;s\u00a0third, and most ambitious album to date, calls for radical hope: <em>&#8220;a commitment to replace the approaching dystopia,&#8221;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>says Katie\u00a0Stelmanis, who leads\u00a0Austra\u00a0with the support of Maya\u00a0Postepski\u00a0(Princess Century, TR\/ST), Dorian Wolf, and Ryan\u00a0Wonsiak.<em>\u00a0&#8220;Not just hope in the future, but the idea that everyone is required to help write it, and the boundaries of what it can look like are both fascinating and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>endless. It&#8217;s not about &#8216;being political,&#8217; it&#8217;s about reaching beyond boundaries, in every single field.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Future Politics&#8217;\u00a0is a collection of urgent, but disciplined anthems for\u00a0dancefloor\u00a0and headphones, asks each of us to remember that apocalypse is not an inevitability, but the product of human decision-making.<em>\u00a0<\/em>It aims for a world without borders, where human compassion and curiosity drive technological innovation rather than profit, where the necessity of labor is replaced with time for creativity and personal growth<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>and the terror and destruction wrought by colonialism and white supremacy is recognized as a dark age in human history. The album is radicalism distilled: to galvanic beats, gorgeous, kinetic melodies, and the vulnerable majesty of\u00a0Stelmanis&#8217;s\u00a0voice.<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by her time living in two cities \u0096 Montreal and Mexico City \u0096 and propelled by economic and philosophical texts she was reading throughout the album&#8217;s creation,\u00a0Stelmanis\u00a0was driven to face the world&#8217;s ailments with positivity, purpose, and engagement, rather than detachment or despair. Inspiration also came from European club culture &#8211;\u00a0Objekt, Peter Van\u00a0Hoesen, Lena\u00a0Willikens, and &#8217;90s legends like Massive Attack; in all, artists who understand the\u00a0dancefloor\u00a0as a source of radical ideas and radical joy.<\/p>\n<p>Change, Rebecca\u00a0Solnit\u00a0(author, activist, environmentalist and editor at\u00a0<em>Harper&#8217;s Magazine<\/em>) writes, comes from <em>&#8220;writers, scholars, public intellectuals, social activists, and participants in social media&#8221;<\/em> &#8211;
