His sophomore LP,\u00a0&#8216;The Afternoons,&#8217; was co-produced by Al Carlson (St. Vincent, Wild Nothing, Ariel Pink) and Shane Butler (Quilt) and is due out\u00a0on April 21st as a co-release between Burger Records (cassette) &amp; Modern Sky Entertainment (digital &amp; LP.) It&#8217;s currently available for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/highvoltagepr.us8.list-manage1.com\/track\/click?u=8bbd1fce629615658f82df5cd&amp;id=074f524cac&amp;e=b0da5a889f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pre-order<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Album track <em>Alex&#8217;s Room<\/em> clocks in at only two and a\u00a0half minutes, but delivers plenty of sunny, laid-back charm. You can\u00a0stream the\u00a0song\u00a0via\u00a0Soundcloud below.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F309086843&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=807e7d\"><\/iframe>\n<p>The Cotillon story began In the fall of 2013, when Corso accepted an invitation from Chet &#8220;JR&#8221; White to move into his spare bedroom in San Francisco &#8211;\u00a0a room famous for housing prolific songwriters such as Christopher Owens, Tobias Jesso Jr, and Cass McCombs &#8211;\u00a0to\u00a0develop his debut LP. Under White&#8217;s guidance, Corso wrote and recorded his first album\u00a0and signed\u00a0a deal with\u00a0Burger Records. After touring the US in support of the\u00a0release, he decided that it was time to make his &#8220;New York&#8221; album\u00a0and\u00a0boarded a plane for NYC, where he\u00a0moved into a small apartment with his girlfriend and began getting to know the city. He wrote everyday, drawing inspiration from French\u00a0new wave, Japanese\u00a0literature, uppers, downers, big city culture, and a romantic relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Corso recorded a large collection of demos in his apartment, which he then shared with Shane Butler of\u00a0New York-via-Boston&#8217;s Quilt. Butler recognized a dichotomy in his songs that seemed to be a perfect metaphor for both Corso&#8217;s personality and for the city itself:<br \/>\nthe high and the low, the grime and the glitter, the superficial and the genuine.\u00a0<em>&#8220;One of the things I really like about Jordan,&#8221;<\/em> Butler explains, <em>&#8220;is that he is caught in this interstice between high-culture &amp; low-culture; between the cleaner aspects of life and the grittier. I heard both these sides of him in the demos he showed me. Jordan also seemed really into this idea of making a &#8216;New York&#8217; record. As someone who grew up partly in New York City, the prospect of making a &#8216;New York&#8217; record in 2015\/16 is a very complicated thing. That concept wrestles with some of the ideas that I saw in Jordan&#8217;s personality.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The\u00a0Afternoons<\/em>\u00a0was recorded over the span of a summer at\u00a0Greenpoint&#8217;s classic Gary&#8217;s Electric Studio.
