The band&#8217;s sixth release in a decade, it&#8217;s an album about cognitive dissonance, darkness, and uncertainty,\u00a0condensed into consumable song formats and structures. Touching on themes of war, dystopias, and crumbling reality\u00a0structures, it&#8217;s highly\u00a0informed by the current political climate and finds the band\u00a0continuing to push themselves into new realms.<\/p>\n<p>Lead single\u00a0<em>You (Sometimes Not You)<\/em> has an otherworldly quality, combining bright synths with catchy but unexpected vocal melodies. After self-releasing their first few albums, 2009&#8217;s &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2xmfqDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ever the Silver Cord Be Loosed<\/a>&#8216; and 2011&#8217;s &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2xmK5Ro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Build Your Beast a Fire<\/a><em>&#8216;<\/em> (recorded by Justin Pizzoferrato and Bishop Allen&#8217;s Justin Rice) were released by Tee Pee Records. Later demos caught the attention of The Brian Jonestown Massacre&#8217;s Anton Newcombe, who released the band&#8217;s 2013 EP, &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2vTJ3hM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Healing<\/a>,&#8217; and 2015&#8217;s &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2ikeZr0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interstellar Skeletal<\/a>&#8216; on his own A Recordings, Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>Live, Weird Owl has supported BJM on tour in both the US and Europe and performed at various\u00a0festivals, including\u00a0the Black Angels-curated Austin Psych Fest, The Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia, and The Netherlands&#8217; Incubate Festival.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Bubblegum Brainwaves&#8217; was recorded and produced by Psychic TV guitarist Jeffrey Berner and features a guest appearance by the legendary Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.
