Tombstones create walls of sound that are simultaneously sonorous and hazy. These are cavernous, stoner lullabies that descend into post-rock soundscapes and are wrapped in dark shoegazing dreamscapes. Take a listen to both track off the single via Soundcloud below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/playlists\/355240463&amp;color=%23969595&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;show_teaser=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With musical influences including\u00a0The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Elliott Smith\u00a0and\u00a0The Melvins, the four-piece&#8217;s sound embraces a wide range of genres &#8211; from the stoner rock of\u00a0Kyuss\u00a0to the warped neo-psychedeia of\u00a0Spacemen 3\u00a0to the cavernous and doom-laden sounds of\u00a0Electric Wizard\u00a0and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded at L.A.&#8217;s Kitten Robot Studio with\u00a0Paul Roessler\u00a0(Nina Hagen, The Deadbeats, The Screamers, 45 Grave), this new release follows up the critically acclaimed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/2017\/08\/10\/los-angeles-tombstones-eyes-release-fear-ep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8216;Fear&#8217; EP<\/a>\u00a0and video for\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/VUEIlwrhZds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Always There<\/a>\u00a0(2017), their huge sounding &#8216;Bad Clouds&#8217; EP (2016), and debut album\u00a0&#8216;Sleep Forever&#8217;\u00a0(2014).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tombstones In Their Eyes&#8217; current line-up is\u00a0John Treanor\u00a0(guitar, vocals, keyboards, songwriter),\u00a0Josh Drew\u00a0(guitar, backing vocals),\u00a0Mike Mason\u00a0(bass, guitar) and\u00a0Stephen Striegel<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(drums).<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;These songs are much more of a collaborative effort by the full band,&#8221;<\/em> explains explains frontman\u00a0John Treanor. <em>&#8220;The old method was John would write the songs, James would lay down the beats from NY and the band would try to recreate the demos. \u00a0Now, with the addition of Stephen Striegel as full time drummer, I wanted to make the songwriting more inclusive. This came out much better than expected &#8211; the songs are really something much different than I would have on my own. It was amazing, actually, hearing the stuff that they came up with. I was blown away.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The band began life as a demo swapping exercise between John Treanor in L.A. and his childhood friend James Cooper, now in New York, but soon coalesced into a full fledged band. But collectives are always more than what you see on the surface. In John&#8217;s case, writing and performing songs is also a way of dealing with severe anxiety and depression, a way of talking about the subject without being the centre of the conversation, and a way of being subliminal rather than direct.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8216;Take Me Home&#8217; is about a place where you feel safe. \u00a0Not the first song I&#8217;ve written about this concept. \u00a0The original chorus was &#8216;Take Me Down&#8217;, but it was so echoed out on the demo that I misheard it when I was transcribing the lyrics, so the song became &#8216;Take Me Home&#8217;. That&#8217;s better anyways,&#8221;<\/em> says\u00a0John Treanor. <em>&#8220;Paul Roessler, our producer, interpreted &#8216;Take Me Home&#8217; as wanting to leave this earth, as in death or suicide, but that&#8217;s not the case.
