Now, he has shared a mind-bending video for the track. Shot on Super8 film by cinematographer Shawn Brackbill, art directed by Georgopoulos\u00a0and edited by the video\u0092 star\u00a0Monica\u00a0Hofstadter,\u00a0it\u00a0was shot on location\u00a0in New York, where the album was also made. Check it out via YouTube below.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i07c7uR9pMc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Georgopoulos says of the video, \u0093&#8221;<em>T<\/em><em>he song itself is quite playful, really. A<\/em><em>s it took shape, it<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>kind\u00a0of felt as if it started glowing. So,\u00a0<\/em><em>I started joking around that it was a love song about<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>fluorescent tubes! Which is it is,<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>in part\u0094,<\/em>\u00a0explains\u00a0Georgopoulos.<em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0093<\/em><em>I\u0092d always loved the idea of Kraftwerk writing this incredible, romantic song about the lights of the city at night (\u0091Neon Lights\u0092), which\u00a0really<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>is<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>one of their great tracks. And I sort of went with that kind of idea, and<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0091Fluoresences\u0092\u00a0became \u0097 while stylistically something altogether very different \u0097\u00a0an analog of sorts. A love song to light. To this very modern, sort of alien phenomenon. But, a kind of springtime glow, a strange oxymoron.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;\u0093Originally, we\u0092&#8217;d wanted to shoot it on VHS,\u00a0but it didn\u0092t materialize easily so we went with Super 8, which, strangely, can share certain qualities with VHS, in terms of how light saturates the film\u0094,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0he adds.\u00a0\u0093&#8221;<em>We\u0092&#8217;d been watching that Wim Wenders documentary<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0091Notebooks on Cities and Clothes\u0092\u00a0and Elizabeth Lennard\u0092s<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0091Tokyo Melody\u0092,<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>and there were qualities we were after that we\u0092d loved about those documentaries.\u0094&#8221;<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A mutant offspring of diverse stylings, unlikely convergences, unfixed constellations, &#8216;ZEBRA,&#8217; Alexis Georgopoulos\u0092 &#8211; aka Arp &#8211; fifth full-length album, is a post-everything symbiosis of ancient to future psychotropics, emphasizing points of connectivity between far-flung traditions. &#8216;ZEBRA&#8217; is as naturalistic as it is alien, disrupting outdated boundaries between musical traditions, hierarchies and genre politics.<\/p>\n<p>Using forward-looking production techniques and an idiosyncratic instrumental palette \u0097 analog synthesizers, double bass, Fender Rhodes, electronic and acoustic drums, flute, vintage harmonizers and tape delay \u0097 Georgopoulos proposes a vast, shimmering prospect, floralizing an array of styles and smiles \u00a0\u0097 Fourth World tremors, vibey Cosmic Jazz, 80s Japanese production, floating kosmische drum atmospherics.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasizing &#8216;points of connectivity&#8217; in a time when reactive and fractious isolationism threaten in divisive ways, &#8216;ZEBRA&#8217; is the sound of interaction. &#8216;ZEBRA&#8217; seeks something beyond definition of singularity perspective and division. It is constructive instead of flippant: ecstatic instead of wallowing; clear-eyed instead of opiated, romantic instead of cynical.<\/p>\n<p>Like the zebra, Georgopoulos\u0092 latest album revels in contrast \/ duality &#8211; Naturalistic + alien. Urban + rural. Calm + unsettling. Lucid + mysterious. Bold simplicity + fiendish complexity.
