It&#8217;s a brooding and layered track with angular guitars and whispered vocals. As the opening track on the 7-song &#8216;Psychic Data&#8217; EP, it establishes a wide sonic palette that is both ugly and beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song was produced by Oh Sees\u00a0member Tomas <g class=\"gr_ gr_5 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace\" id=\"5\" data-gr-id=\"5\">Dolas<\/g> (who recorded and produced\u00a0Sasami&#8217;s eponymous LP), the drums are front and center, overdriven with tape saturation. Synths glitch across the verse, and shine in the songs instrumental bridge, courtesy of\u00a0Froth&#8217;s Joojoo Ashworth. The Bay Area band were signed to\u00a0Father\/Daughter Records. Joined by Greta Soos (drums), Dye&#8217;s sound builds on their previous work, but pursues something darker and more dynamic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Songs like title track <em>Psychic Data<\/em> showcase the band&#8217;s range, starting stripped down before blossoming with orchestral flourishes. <em>Hostage<\/em> pairs stark, off-kilter verses with an anthemic chorus a la Royal Headache, while <em>Pain Expo<\/em> is all angles, it&#8217;s scraping guitars building to an almost shoegaze take on Interpol&#8217;s post-punk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8216;Psychic Data&#8217;\u00a0is available to pre-order via\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/facebook.us18.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e22cf904a6e0730f2c966c9fe&amp;id=88c4c4cb3a&amp;e=6368812278\" target=\"_blank\">Copper Mouth Records<\/a>.
