The knotty, anxious, tongue-in-cheek track is lifted from\u00a0their\u00a0highly anticipated debut album\u00a0\u20183D Routine\u2019.<br><br>Featuring Mush\u2019s trademark off kilter guitar licks, <em>Existential Dread<\/em> sees lead singer Dan Hyndman merrily interrogate the dark recesses of his mind:<br><br><em>\u201cI wrote the song to keep myself amused while on a severe hangover, tried to frame the bleak thoughts in an amusing way. We always affectionately referred to it as the Beatles\/Nirvana song. First riff sounds like Beatles and then the second riff sounds bit like Nirvana. We are unofficially Yorkshire\u2019s most anxious band so seems apt to have a song about existential dread\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Listen to the track via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Bb1j_Xi719Q?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Following on from their\u00a0\u2018Induction Party EP,\u2019 Leeds based Mush are circulating their own sonic mythology, blurring the lines between abstract surrealism, existentialism and social commentary. Like its predecessor\u00a0\u20183D Routine\u2019 is a sensory overload of clattering, hooky, guitar work. However, this time space emerges between the onslaughts and in this respite, room is found for new emotional depth. More expansive than ever before,\u00a0\u20183D Routine\u2019 manages to maintain the rawness of a classic debut but its\u00a0experimentation and variety portray a band unlikely to rest on their \u2018guitar band\u2019 chops.\u00a0<br><br>Songwriter Dan Hyndman explains the genesis of the band as being \u201c<em>fairly boiler plate\u201d <\/em>a combination of friends old and new converging in Leeds post-Uni to form a band predominantly united in their mutual affection for the Pavement back catalogue. Finally settling on a lineup of Nick Grant (bass), Tyson (guitar) and Phil Porter (drums) the band\u2019s progression has taken them far beyond this original vision.\u00a0<br><br>Having garnered local attention in the early days for their unhinged and often calamitous live shows in Leeds, it was the unlikely radio hit <em>Alternative Facts<\/em>, (clocking in at an uncompromising ten minutes) that brought the Mush to the attention of a wider audience. The song, one of the last releases for the legendary Too Pure Singles Club saw early support from Marc Riley and others on BBC 6music with them playing multiple sessions, and the follow up single, <em>Gig Economy<\/em> hopping onto the 6music playlist. Roaming further afield from their hometown, Mush spent the first half of 2019 heading out around the UK, earning a reputation for their intense live performances, supporting the likes of Girl Band, The Lovely Eggs, Yak, Shame and Stereolab, as well as releasing the\u00a0\u2018Induction Party\u00a0EP\u2019 to great acclaim. At the tail end of summer of 2019 Mush headed to Leeds\u2019 Green Mount Studio and with Andy Savours (Dream Wife, Our Girl, My Bloody Valentine) manning the mixing desk, their debut LP,\u00a0\u20183D Routine\u2019 was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i2.cmail20.com\/ei\/j\/55\/D35\/E1E\/201958\/csfinal\/AlbumArt-9900000000079e3c.jpeg\" alt=\"Mush 3D Routine cover artwork\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8216;3D Routine<\/strong>\u2019 <strong>tracklisting<\/strong><br><br>1.
