It\u2019s the perfect pick me up track for Sunday (or any day you need a little kick in the pants). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video was directed by Bart Price, a long-time friend and collaborator of Jerskin&#8217;s &#8211; \u00a0they also worked together on the videos for previous singles <em>Manhattan<\/em> &amp; <em>Swamp<\/em> and Bart co-directed the experimental, absurdist opera <em>UBU<\/em> at the V&amp;A. Watch it via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/haLQ0w9s3_E?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The new video builds on these previous collaborations, with Bart&#8217;s signature style combining found footage with intensely hyperactive colours and effects.<br><br>The single, named for the 1937 film, sees Jerskin swagger\u00a0with a faux arrogance, \u2018call the fire service, \u2018cause I\u2019m on fire\u2019. The music is built on a mudslide of his distinctive synth-pop production. Sprinting through exactly 3 minutes of hyperactivity, he tosses references to Nick Cave, Shame, Puccini, the Quietus and\u00a0Wim Wenders into his mythology.<br><br>Speaking about\u00a0the video, Bart \u200bsaid,\u00a0<em>\u201cWhile shooting in Piccadilly Circus, a group of French children came up to Jerskin and asked, \u2018Are you famous?\u2019 The answer was of course yes and he took selfies with every one of them. In that moment they believed he was an icon and so he was an icon, that\u2019s what this music video is about.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i2.cmail19.com\/ei\/j\/6B\/98D\/5F9\/211541\/csfinal\/ASIBartwork-9900000000079e3c.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The single is lifted from Jerskin&#8217;s upcoming debut album &#8216;Winterreise&#8217;, which is due out\u00a017th April\u00a0via\u00a0untitled recs.<br><br>The announcement also follows the recent release of Jerskin&#8217;s warped single <em><a href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/jerskin-fendrix-shares-new-single-black-hair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Black Hair (opens in a new tab)\">Black Hair<\/a><\/em>, which was accompanied by haunting visuals made by\u00a0Liam Noonan, the artist behind the custom visuals at\u00a0London clubbing institution FOLD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jerskin Fendrix has been carving himself a special place on the London scene. Starting out by releasing a trilogy of video singles that have already received high praise from a vast array of major publications. In 2018, he composed the score to an experimental absurdist opera <em>UBU<\/em> at the V&amp;A, before embarking on a UK tour and joint single release with rock phenomenon\u00a0Black Midi.<br><br>As a classically trained pianist and violinist, Fendrix&#8217;s practice and ambition extends far beyond the realm of traditional songwriting. His\u00a0avant-garde take on electronic pop cannibalises and appropriates elements of pop culture at the service of very personal songs.\u00a0All of his material has an emotionally playful sarcastic take on the tropes of modern life, whilst also delving inwards. Most of all, it can\u2019t be easily pigeonholed.<br><br>\u2018Winterreise\u2019 is the fruit of Jerskin Fendrix\u2019s first 3 years as an artist. His debut album spans an improbable range of music, skimming UK Grime, Bruce Springsteen, Sibelius, Joanna Newsom, PC Music and \u201850s Doo-Wop without alighting. Jerskin\u2019s \u2018Winterreise,\u2019 named after Schubert\u2019s Winterreise, conveys the same message: if you spend too long writing a breakup album, something weird will happen.
