Watch the video clip via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WA62oxN0SPA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As vocalist\/guitarist Hannah Liuzzo explains, &#8220;<em>we were all really into the idea of slapstick physical comedy coupled with the 50s\/60s visual vibes of a live telethon, and we also aimed to poke fun at the idea that as artists, you&#8217;re always having to prove yourself and explain the value of your craft, whether it&#8217;s to coworkers or family members: people outside of your immediate circle who just don&#8217;t &#8220;get it.&#8221; We tried to exaggerate the feeling of banging your head against a wall and being like&#8230; we play music in a real way, I swear!!&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Band camp is a transformative time for anyone. It\u2019s where identities are shaped, awkwardness is traded, and a lifelong appreciation for music can either be fostered or frumpled. For Allston power-pop trio\u00a0Lilith, it proved more revolutionary than routine, as the band\u2019s core lineup\u2014vocalist \/ guitarist Hannah Liuzzo, vocalist\/bassist Kelsey Rose Francis, and drummer Adam Demirjian\u2014became friends over four years of summer sessions. After a pair of critically acclaimed releases (both earning top end-of-year honors via\u00a0<em>Allston Pudding<\/em>), this lifelong group of friends has found a second guitarist in Gabriel Panadero and the way to their debut album.\u00a0\u2018Safer Off\u2019\u00a0shows off a lot of what band camp attempts to instill in a musician: discipline, attention to detail, and creativity in spite of uncomfortable change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>I think the record is mostly about redefining a concept of strength,<\/em>\u201d Liuzzo explains. \u201c<em>Strength isn&#8217;t quietly enduring abuse, instead it&#8217;s knowing what you deserve and advocating for it.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u2018Safer Off\u2019\u00a0may be brimming with color and youthful exuberance\u2014whether in the whirling synths churning across key moments or the album\u2019s sunny guitar tones\u2014but with every confident musical choice, there\u2019s darkness threatening to cloud the shine. <em>Vacation<\/em> checks in with an old friend who\u2019s changed for the worse, and <em>Coward<\/em> does the same for someone failing to accept proper accountability. All the while, Lilith\u2019s cast of characters write letters that remain unfinished and undelivered, but it\u2019s after these broken correspondences where clarity comes through.
