This latest single is lifted from the artist\u2019s just-announced upcoming album out this fall. Produced by\u00a0Kyle<strong> <\/strong>Pulley (Adult Mom, Kississippi), the track was originally written about the solace of being an introvert after a breakup, then morphing into an accidental quarantine anthem. Filmed in different areas around Shamir\u2019s house, the clothing is secondhand and the visuals are all his own. Watch the video clip via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KFJMAJT_BNc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With release date and name yet to come, this new album reimagines 90\u2019s Pop &amp; Rock for the modern world, in what Shamir alludes to as his most accessible album since 2015\u2019s debut\u00a0\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/girlieaction.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=1d59aca4aeedaab429816159e&amp;id=46078381e2&amp;e=3a430a552a\">Ratchet<\/a>\u2019.\u00a0It\u2019s been a long road, over the last six years, to finally make the album that matched his vision &#8211; from becoming a globe-trotting touring act, taking a hard left turn stylistically, confronting his mental health issues and moving from his native Las Vegas to Philadelphia.<br>\u00a0<br>Coming together when Shamir met up with a songwriting hero,\u00a0Lindi<strong> <\/strong>Ortega, this full-length is his most intimate, most crafted and a huge step forward in a transfiguration for the artist. Having adopted the iconography of the butterfly, the chrysalis has fallen away, and Shamir is floating. And he\u2019s barely 25 years old.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Even though Shamir launched a label in 2019,\u00a0Accidental Popstar Records, the LP will be released on no label at all. For becoming widely known for R&amp;B dance pop, the one constant through his move back toward guitar-driven indie pop &#8212; through the critically acclaimed and ever-relevant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/girlieaction.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=1d59aca4aeedaab429816159e&amp;id=c0ae64eef6&amp;e=3a430a552a\"><em>Resolution<\/em><\/a><em>,\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/girlieaction.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=1d59aca4aeedaab429816159e&amp;id=2399ab70d8&amp;e=3a430a552a\"><em>Revelations<\/em><\/a><em>,<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/girlieaction.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=1d59aca4aeedaab429816159e&amp;id=f13efc972a&amp;e=3a430a552a\"><em>Be the Yee, Here Comes the Haw<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and all the way to this year\u2019s surprise release\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/girlieaction.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=1d59aca4aeedaab429816159e&amp;id=f5e1510b7c&amp;e=3a430a552a\"><em>Cataclysm<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0&#8212;\u00a0<\/em>has been his unmistakable voice, a countertenor piercing straight to the heart.<br>\u00a0<br>Though there are still flashes of synth and punctuated drum beats, ala his early releases, Shamir has taken a turn toward the post-hardcore \u201890s for further inspiration &#8211; from Olympia, Washington cult heroes Unwound to bands of the Kill Rock Stars orbit, taking everything into his own hands in the DIY tradition. Having delved into outsider music, country and punk, Shamir continues to create raw and vulnerable tunes, stripped down to their emotional core.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Earlier this year, Shamir also appeared in the Netflix documentary\u00a0I&#8217;m With The Band: Nasty Cherry\u00a0and has toured with indie giants like\u00a0Stars\u00a0and\u00a0Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
