This track was not about me but rather about me facilitating Michel Gaubert\u2019s musical vision for a new Chanel show. So I came up with the idea of the \u2018PlanningtoChanel\u00a0\u00a0speaker\u2019. It seemed to encapsulate precisely all the elements of lovely this collaboration. My music, Michel\u2019s sonic vision and Chanel\u2019s iconic chic. This is the first time I\u2019ve ever commissioned a motion video and the first time working with Jenni Pasanen. He\u2019s a such legend with a brilliant ear for music and a very big heart!\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Rostron says of the collaboration. \u201c<em>Creating the music for the Chanel show was such an exciting challenge. From the inspiring references that Michel gave me I set out to make music that had a sense of urgent elegance that was then punctuated with dramatic pitched queer voices driving the drama.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With four critically acclaimed studio albums of left-field dance to their name \u2013 not to mention various collaborations, Operas, film scores and remixes \u2013 Planningtorock is a self-taught, non-binary musician, who has spent a decade-plus queering sound and vision as Planningtorock. Planningtorock debuted in the Noughties with 2006\u2019s\u00a0<em>Have It All [Chicks On speed]<\/em>, finding artistic community among fellow DIY outliers and gender outlaws such as\u00a0Peaches\u00a0and\u00a0The Knife. Their sound \u2013 tense, spellbinding dance music with classical flourishes, unexpected brass and pitched-down vocals \u2013 have become Planningotorock&#8217;s signature, earning them a dedicated following.\u00a0\u00a0\u2018W,\u2019 Planningtorock\u2019s critically acclaimed 2011 debut via\u00a0DFA, revealed a visionary and politicised producer offering up deeply queered art-pop. 2014\u2019 s\u00a0\u2018All Love\u2019s Legal\u2019\u00a0was released on Rostra&#8217;s own label,\u00a0Human Level\u00a0with banner-ready slogans (\u2018Patriarchy Over And Out\u2019, \u2018Let\u2019s Talk About Gender Baby\u2019), revealing their ability to combine pop-oriented music with a political message. Planningtorock&#8217;s fourth full length album\u00a0\u2018Powerhouse<strong><em>,<\/em><\/strong>\u2019 released in 2018<em>,<\/em>\u00a0is their most personal record yet, with emotionally charged, biographical anthems drawn from Rostron\u2019s lived experiences as a non-binary genderqueer artist, experiences around family, identity and music itself.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michel Gaubert\u00a0is fashion&#8217;s leading sound director. Along with producing the fashion show soundtracks for an extensive list of clients including\u00a0Christian Dior, Valentino, Loewe, Fendi, J.W. Anderson, Proenza Schouler, Acne, Raf Simons\u00a0and\u00a0Jeremy Scott<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0the omnipresent sound director boasted a collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld spanning nearly thirty years, until Lagerfeld&#8217;s passing in February 2019. The EP will also be available as a double vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve and CD which have been designed by long-time collaborative associate Tommy Everett and Planningtorock.<em>\u00a0<\/em>Jam will donate a portion of the earnings made from all future planningtorock releases to anti-racist organizations.
