Bottled Up have shared their new single Kilo<\/em>. The track is lifted from the band’s album \u2018Crystal\u2019 which will be out\u00a0on October 16\u00a0via Maximum Pelt Records. The single is hot, moody, and angular, like all of the ways you might feel when you\u2019ve got to hide some of yourself in front of those you love (or don\u2019t). Bottled Up\u2019s freaked-up art pop is a smoothie of frontman Nikhil Rao\u2019s key obsessions: Suburban Lawns, italo disco, Alan Vega, Television (the band), television (the appliance), Andy Warhol, the entire decade of the \u201880s, Prince\u2019s particular shade of plum purple, his old Tascam 8-track, Factory Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian-American by way of Oakland and LA, Rao\u2019s the dude-who\u2019s-seen-it-all meets dude-about-town. A sound designer and audio engineer by trade – professionally schooled in the art of video game scoring- Rao\u2019s a man informed first by the sort of his journeying one\u2019s got to do when faced with the darknesses of addiction and a twisty adolescence in and out of religious cults. For all of its gleaming guitars and glossy euro-flavoured synthwork, Bottled Up\u2019s filled with the mental residue one gets after asking the void to fuck off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-led with Colin Kelly – a disciple of D.C.\u2019s avant-analog scene – joined by Michael Mastrangelo and Beth Cannon on dueling guitars, and supplanted by Rao\u2019s wunderkid brother, Rohit, on acid-jazz-does-punk drums, Bottled Up conjures the sort of psycho-potpourri-spirit that\u2019s only given to the sort of band that\u2019s able to conjure a vision of the things they love, the mountains they\u2019ve overcome, and mutate it all into something you can dance to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
