The record was mixed\u00a0by Grammy and Juno award winning Dave Schiffman (Trash Talk, PUP, Rage Against The Machine). Vocalist\/guitarist Densil McFarlane says about the album:\u00a0<em>&#8220;This album is about death, wanting to die, and fighting for something to live for \u2014 it\u2019s the end of all things. I feel this is the one of the most important cross-genre albums this century. We are Nirvana, we are The Beatles, and The Stones. \u00a0We are really changing the dimensions of which the game is played like the Steph Curry of this rock shit. We all have feelings of doubt, uncertainty, and I used to live there. I\u2019m trying not to die there. \u00a0If I\u2019m going out, I\u2019m going out shooting.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with the news of the album\u2019s release, The OBGMs have released cathartically combative single <em>Fight Song<\/em>. Says McFarlane of the motivation behind the track: &#8220;<em>You ever sitting in your 9-5 and someone talking reckless and you really want to punch them in their head top? You ever get that passive aggressive email from that disrespectful person and you want to walk to their cubicle and tell them about their mom? I wrote this song so I wouldn\u2019t have to hold my tongue. We want the smoke. All of it. You don\u2019t like us, fight me, or get the hell out of the way. You can\u2019t stop us, this is how we die.<\/em>\u201d\u00a0Watch the video clip<strong> <\/strong>for <em>Fight Song<\/em> via YouTube below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N2y03emKAkQ?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The OBGMs (that\u2019s The oOoh Baby Gimme Mores) \u2014 rounded out by drummer Colanthony Humphrey and bassist Joseph Brosnan \u2014 aren\u2019t your typical rock band. \u201c<em>This is a black-fronted punk band, and that\u2019s really important,\u201d McFarlane says. \u201cRock n\u2019 roll is mostly white suburban kids\u2014that\u2019s what gets promoted. But we are black and we out here. I was inspired to make rock music when I saw a black guy on stage, and if someone sees that in us, I hope it will inspire a new generation to go after this.<\/em>\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018The Ends\u2019 was recorded at Dream House Studios in Toronto and is the light at the end of a dark tunnel for McFarlane after the band wrapped up touring their self-titled debut album.\u00a0<em>\u201cI thought me and music was over,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he says.\u00a0<em>\u201cMy life wasn\u2019t very good at the time, people around me were dying, and everything I was making sucked. I thought it was a sign that I needed to do something else.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0After a six-month hiatus and a whole lot of soul-searching, McFarlane started writing again.\u00a0<em>\u201cI basically had a conversation with myself and found that the reasons I was making music were wrong and upside-down,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he says.\u00a0<em>\u201cI was making it to fit a certain mold, but it lacked truth. It lacked honesty. That\u2019s why it wasn\u2019t able to come out the way I wanted it to. So I changed my strategy on songwriting. I started talking about things that were more relevant to me and more relevant to my community \u2014 and just talking about how I actually feel in words that are not compromising.\u201d<br><br>\u201cYou can love us or hate us,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>says McFarlane.<em>\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m aiming for that.
