Cult math-rock Baltimore band OXES have announced \u2018The Fourth Wall\u2019, a 20-year anniversary expanded edition of their 2000 self-titled album packaged with their long-shelved first Peel Session, presented for the first time in its original high fidelity. The reissue will be out on November 27, 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

OXES, (1998-2011) was an experimental, instrumental trio hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, comprising of guitarists Marc Miller and Nat Fowler, and drummer Christopher Freeland. With performance-art tinged of instrumentals that incorporated wireless guitars and stand-up comedy, they describe their music as \u201cheavy metal tone poems.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now they commemorate the 20-year anniversary of their first LP with a gatefold double vinyl remastered by Sarah Register. The new release \u2018The Fourth Wall\u2019 features the original self titled album and the group\u2019s first Peel Session \u2014 which was previously unavailable in high fidelity \u2014 as well as a booklet featuring never-before-seen photos and texts about their history. The cover, which was painted by Christopher Freeland, reinterprets OXES\u2019<\/em> original cover photograph by Eric Wareheim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With cosmic synchronicity, the band\u2019s guitarists being born on the birth and death days of Jimi Hendrix respectively, they immanentize the eschaton this year; on the day of the record\u2019s release, as the number 42 presents itself as the age of guitarist Marc Miller and the year in which Hendrix was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection will be available on double vinyl in a superb gatefold cover with a matte finish and a 12-page booklet, all housed in a futuristic heat-sealed aluminum sleeve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
