British electronic-backboned band\u00a0Hybrid have shared their brand new single and video Flashpoint<\/em>. Flashpoint<\/em> is available now digitally<\/a> via\u00a0Distinctive Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2019’Flashpoint’ is the first track from our sixth album and our first single and video to set the tone and story of where this latest album will take you\u201d<\/em> explains vocalist\/songwriter\u00a0Charlotte Truman. \u201cIt’s\u00a0a sum of all of our strengths as a four-piece band but draws heavily on our legacy of heavy beats together with the sound of a band that\u2019s been mangled through all the studio toys we can get our hands on.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pulsating and propulsive with orchestral flourishes that are a trademark of Hybrid\u2019s music, Flashpoint<\/em> harkens back to electorock\u2019s heyday while maintaining a very contemporary rhythm and urgency.\u00a0\u201cStu Morgan [guitars\/vocals] frequently channels Jimi Hendrix and came up with the epic riff in the song and our drummer Simon Hanson added the military beats and gonzo drum fills and stomp to the track,\u201d<\/em> Truman explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band’s eye-opening Flashpoint<\/em> video is a sci-fi mini-film of multiplex proportions. With the cinematic music driving the narrative forward, the video captures the storyline that recalls Jonathan Glazer\u2019s stylish otherworldly thriller\u00a0\u2018Under the Skin\u2019\u00a0and Alex Garland\u2019s\u00a0\u2018Annihilation\u2019 while remaining loosely impressionistic. \u201cMike [Truman, sound design\/producer] and I shot the video ourselves as we\u2019ve been fascinated and thrilled by cinema since we were teenagers and have been making our own shorts for over a decade,\u201d<\/em> she muses. \u201cGranted, filming a video during lockdown was a bit of a challenge but we made use of every possible local location that we could.\u00a0 No farmers were maimed or injured during the making of this film, although one of them was concerned that our smoke effect was actually us setting their barn on fire!\u201d<\/em> Watch the Flashpoint<\/em> video clip via Vimeo below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
