The video was directed by\u00a0Erik Foster.<strong> <\/strong><em>Running<\/em> was written during a period of significant change and reflection for the band and is first track the band wrote with their new line up. I\u2019d just started playing around with a drum machine and 16-track at home, and this one was a result of really stripping back everything to the bass and vocals and then building it up from there.\u00a0<br><br>At its core Running is about peeling back the layers to connect with your innermost self. Summoning the courage, patience and stillness to distill it down and uncover what truly matters, to listen to our hearts and tap into the subconscious. It\u2019s about facing fears and insecurities and having the courage to go after what will truly make you happy (or \u201cmake your heart happy\u201d as my dad would say), which oftentimes might be in the opposite direction of what we\u2019re running toward, whether in relationships, life paths and choices, etc.<br><br>The hardest thing sometimes is to look deep within and listen to ourselves, to follow our instincts and face what we may know is true but are too afraid to admit for fear of change, risk, loss, disappointment, or failure.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Running<\/em> is available now on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/rxlznf\/3m9fkn\/3uvyjl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all streaming services<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Horizon\u2019 album details + more about Fotoform<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking their name from a mid-century avant-garde photography movement, Seattle\u2019s Fotoform create melodic, gauzy, and driving post-punk with their second album, \u2018Horizons\u2019. The band takes an ambitious leap forward with<em>\u00a0Horizons.<\/em>\u00a0With recording sessions bookending the lockdown,\u00a0\u2018Horizons\u2019 pivots from the wall of guitars on their self-titled debut to a more nuanced and cinematic follow-up, adding synths and layers of guitars, while drawing on the textures of shoegaze and dream pop with the drive of post-punk. Over the years, Fotoform have further refined their plaintive, bass-driven kinetic swoon which was described by\u00a0The Big Takeover\u00a0as \u201c<em>a riot of \u201880s post-punk.<\/em>\u201d On their forthcoming release, the band updated their dark, left-of-the-dial moods and melodies, weaving in traces of\u00a0The Cure, Siouxsie &amp; the Banshees\u00a0and\u00a0The Chameleons. Listeners can also hear shimmering tapestries of the\u00a0Cocteau Twins, For Against\u00a0and\u00a0Slowdive\u00a0as well as contemporaries\u00a0Drab Majesty\u00a0and\u00a0Soft Kill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim House and Geoffrey Cox founded the dark, goth-adjacent dream pop of C\u2019est la Mort (dubbing the sound \u201cpointy-shoegaze\u201d) shortly after they married, and released one album on their own\u00a0Dismal Nitch label,\u00a0as well as various compilation tracks (including a limited split 7\u201d with\u00a0Stars\u00a0for\u00a0American Laundromat\u2019s\u00a0<em>Please Please Please<\/em>\u00a0tribute to The Smiths). After various lineup changes, the band reemerged as Fotoform in late 2016. They released their self-titled debut in 2017 and followed it up with the Peel-Sessions-like immediacy of their\u00a0Part-Time Punks EP\u00a0in 2019, with Michael Schorr joining soon after. Recording for\u00a0<em>Horizons<\/em>\u00a0began right before the 2020 lockdown with\u00a0Evan Foster\u00a0(Boss Martians, The Sonics, Dirty Sidewalks) and resumed a year later with Foster and\u00a0Matt Bayles\u00a0(Minus the Bear, Mastodon, Pearl Jam)\u00a0recording the drums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fotoform\u2019s self-titled debut was voted as one of\u00a0KEXP\u00a0Listeners\u2019 Top 90.3 albums of 2017\u00a0and made numerous year-end lists (The Big Takeover, Part-Time Punks), as well as being featured as a\u00a0KEXP song of the day\u00a0(\u201cI Know You\u2019re Charming\u201d). The band supported the record with tours in Europe and the West Coast. Fotoform followed up with a\u00a0Part-Time Punks EP\u00a0the next year, which was selected as one of\u00a0The Big Takeover\u2019s EPs of the 2019\u00a0(\u201cHoly [insert expletive]!\u201d as Jack Rabid succinctly put it).
