The track is lifted from the forthcoming debut album &#8216;Cocoon&#8217; due later this year to be released on Vinyl and Bandcamp only.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following on from recent tracks <em>Fangs Out<\/em> and <em>Lost Souls<\/em>, <em>Slow<\/em> sees Kat Koan and her new band &#8216;The Lost Souls&#8217;, rework&nbsp;Kylie Minogue&#8217;s original song in their own inimitable style. Peppered with subtle&nbsp;nods to esteemed peers like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blondie and Wet Leg, the accompanying video pays homage to the city of Berlin where Kat Koan is from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kat explains: <em>&#8220;I love Kylie, the undisputed queen of sparkly hot pants. We wanted to take one of her songs and make it darker, grittier, more psychedelic sounding. So that\u2019s what we did. The video is an Ode to Berlin and what this city is all about, a colourful dirty messy haven for free spirited people. It was shot by Patrick Tichy and features my awesome friends Megumi Eda and Tish William Wood, two\u00a0insanely talented ballet dancers, who embody the sense of freedom and liberation I was keen to express. Living in Berlin has totally changed what\u2019s important to me in life. It\u2019s not about material possessions, but finding ways to actually LIVE. The work \/ life balance is a lot healthier here than in most other big cities. Making music encapsulates many strong emotions, heart, soul and craft; the process is all encompassing. Of course, it&#8217;s a joy and a real pleasure to make music and I don\u2019t look at making our own album as a \u2018job\u2019 that I should get paid for but there is a value to it.&nbsp;We will be staying away from digital streaming platforms for this album and release it on vinyl only, via bandcamp. 8 vinyl sales are the financial equivalent of 50 000 streams on Spotify, which is mad when you think about it. The album is quite personal so we\u2019d love to share our little Cocoon with a few people who want to be part of this adventure. At the age of 19, she left her hometown Riesa in East Germany and moved to London, where she studied Media Arts and Management. After graduating from Surrey University she worked as a News Reporter\/writer for Bloomberg News and later moved on to producing various children\u2019s TV series, commercials, music videos and Short Films, organised Film screenings as well as Art Exhibitions and trained as a voice over artist in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her time as a commercials producer she developed a passion for combining words and visuals with music. She began to write poems and short stories and made field recordings to create soundscapes for these stories, in order to bring them to life and add more depth and dimension. This later \u00a0led to an interest in song writing. In 2017, Kat started to write lyrics for other artists and from 2018 she decided to take up singing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focus on musical and visual storytelling didn\u2019t go unnoticed. When she finished the production of her debut album LUSTPRINZIP with Alex Lavery in London, David Lynch\u2019s sound supervisor Dean Hurley heard something in her electro clash songs that intrigued him and offered to mix the album. Some of the songs were subsequently placed on adverts for clients like Glass Magazine and Bulgari, and were met with positive press and live audience reactions. This gave her the confidence and drive to keep going and improve her songwriting skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020 she started to collaborate with Belgian producer &amp; musician Raymond Rose, for her new album \u2018COCOON,\u2019 which explores an entirely different musical genre, as well as a more grown up approach to storytelling.
