The track is lifted from the band\u2019s new album,\u00a0\u2018Lemons\u2019\u00a0which is out now via\u00a0Hand Drawn Dracula\u00a0(Young Guv, Tallies, Tess Parks)marking the label&#8217;s 100th release.\u00a0\u2018Lemons\u2019\u00a0has found support so far from\u00a0Brooklyn Vegan, Exclaim, CBC Radio\u00a0and more for the early singles\u00a0\u2013 it\u00a0arrives as the third full-length from Fake Palms and reintroduces the project after a short break in which le Riche focused on his electro-synth project,\u00a0Sauna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Flags<\/em> circles around outsider-pop, post-punk and the sound of early\/mid-naughts British indie-rock. Swirling guitars bounce off of each other\u00a0circling around fervent percussion before shifting into something harder-hitting across\u00a0the chorus. Speaking about the single, Michael says: <em>&#8220;&#8216;Flags&#8217; is a song about having to find where you fit within the machinery. Is it comfortable? Is it against what your beliefs are? Do you want to do it or do you have to do it? Do you feel like a traitor? Or are you scared at how much you actually enjoy it? We all seem to have these specters we answer to, these things we rally for or against subconsciously. Taking to Candle Recording studio with long-time contributor, co-producer, and engineer\u00a0Josh Korody (Breeze, Beliefs), the songwriting dove headlong even further into dream-math-punk sensibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new record evolves from the 00&#8217;s angular guitar rhythms that defined the post-punk foundations of Fake Palms&#8217; first two releases.\u00a0\u2018Lemons\u2019\u00a0switches out some of\u00a0the\u00a0irregular time-signatures of 70&#8217;s college rock\u00a0and first-take recording approach, this time moving\u00a0with confidence into more dissonant yet accessible directions of brighter melodic structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mcusercontent.com\/4c25773ce0262fea87830a367\/images\/07d20e50-ca60-c16c-6216-880631caac5d.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"Fake Palms Lemons cover artwork \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018<strong>Lemons\u2019 track list<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
