Their haunting music is a mix of her vocals and his harmony blended with synth, guitar, and undertones of rock and pop. Their personal, introspective lyrics are informed by the pair\u2019s upbringing as strict Catholics in rural Portugal. \u201c<em>The Manic Boys and Girls Club\u00a0is more than a band,\u201d<\/em> they explain. \u201c<em>It is an escape from the submissive existence that was reality, an escape from the disposable music packaged for the masses, and an escape for any misfit looking to join the club.\u201d<\/em>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We\u2019ll Be Fine<\/em> the latest single from their acclaimed self-titled EP<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>the collection of five songs recounts the two loners\u2019 experiences touring in a van, as well as interpersonal relationships. \u201c<em>Every song starts with a lyric and a melody,\u201d <\/em>they say. \u201c<em>No matter how it is produced, every one of our songs can be a lullaby.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Watch the video for <em>We\u2019ll Be Fine<\/em> via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DPypeaOls2M?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But they did lose some sleep perfecting <em>We\u2019ll Be Fine.<\/em> There are songs that \u201c<em>come together super-fast and you know exactly what you hear in your head; this was not the case for \u2018We\u2019ll Be Fine.\u2019 I think,\u201d<\/em> offers Fernando, \u201c<em>because it has always been a pretty important song to us, since the first demos or voice memo versions of its existence. So\u2026 we explored and spent many hours messing around with guitar tones and ambient soundscapes, we rearranged and made rewrite after rewrite a lot before mixing. Bela wanted to go back into the studio and re-do some vocals.\u00a0Gavin Brown\u00a0(who was producing and mixing) was\u00a0very much\u00a0against the idea. So, we did the obvious appropriate thing: We waited till he was away for a weekend, booked the studio and engineer, and, on our own, did it anyway!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Forget about the life we left behind<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Forget about the drugs that kept us high<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We were born for so much more<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Our time is now<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Forget about the books we never read<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Forget about the words we could have said<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We were born for so much more<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Our time is now<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inspiration behind the song is just personal experience, says Fernando. \u201c<em>I don\u2019t think either of us is really able to give life advice to anyone\u2026 but the idea is to have hope in the future.
