Lip Filler has announced their new EP ‘witchescrew’ will be released\u00a0on May\u00a024th via\u00a0Chess Club Records\u00a0and they\u2019ve also shared\u00a0their new single followup<\/em>. Lip Filler also announced a short run of June headline dates in London, Bristol and Manchester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

followup<\/em>\u00a0arrives\u00a0in the wake of recent support slots with\u00a0O.<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Master Peace,\u00a0being\u00a0tipped\u00a0for success in\u00a0a number of Ones To Watch in 2024 lists, and their October 2023 single Limelite<\/em><\/a> which will also feature on the new EP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing from a swathe of early-2000’s influences, new single followup<\/em> is Lip Filler at their\u00a0uncompromising\u00a0best. Offering a\u00a0tantalising triad of surrealist vocal bites\u00a0from\u00a0George Tucker, Verity Hughes\u00a0and Jude Scholefield;\u00a0their collective musings over nocturnal activity \u2013\u00a0specifically diving into curiosities surrounding sleepwalking \u2013 entangled in a web of scratchy guitar jolts, punchy drum passages and glitched-out electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussing new single followup<\/em>, the band said:\u00a0“followup is about impatience. Time is a precious thing; when we are told to wait for something sometimes we feel as though we\u2019re not making any progress. We push ourselves to ensure we’re occupying our time efficiently. Taking this to the extreme would mean avoiding sleep altogether, or sleepwalking. I think that\u2019s how this song began to adopt more paranormal themes\u2026

This song feels like a big turning point for us. I think we can all agree that this is the closest we\u2019ve ever sounded to how we always wanted to sound. We\u2019ve always tried to add an element of unpredictability to our music which followup captures really well. It\u2019s always felt like a Frankenstein of a song; stitching it together was a nightmare. But what we ended up with feels like our most accomplished track to date.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song’s accompanying video was directed by Jude Harrison and edited by the band’s own George Tucker. Speaking on the video, the band shared: “The singers in the video are kind of trapped in their locations on their own; they\u2019re stuck and they can\u2019t move out of them. There\u2019s no real sense of time in the video either, similar to how your memories aren\u2019t organised like a calendar; different times in your life feel shorter than others based on how you\u2019re feeling. Time flies when you\u2019re having fun, and vice versa.
