Now, he\u2019s all in on SICKY, crafting punchy, Britpop-infused indie rock with echoes of Beck, Supergrass, and Blur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Troubled Delight&#8217; is a whirlwind of energy, packed with sub-three-minute tracks bursting with character. Double bassist Jen Bone (Project Blues Band) lends her groove to three tracks, while Rebecca Butler and Lily &amp; Scarlet Butler add backing vocals that elevate the album\u2019s infectious melodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On <em>Billy Cousins<\/em>, SICKY says:<\/strong><br><em>&#8220;It\u2019s a song about an imaginary character you can become when you&#8217;re doubting everything. The production? Think Prince\u2019s \u2018Get Off\/Sexy MF\/Batman\u2019 era\u2014big beats, outrageous grooves, and hooks for days. That little purple genius blew my mind.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The track\u2019s music video features a clip from the gloriously chaotic 1963 film <em>It\u2019s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World<\/em>, a childhood favorite of Butler\u2019s. <em>&#8220;My mom used to laugh so hard at it she\u2019d have to leave the room,&#8221;<\/em> he recalls. <em>&#8220;There\u2019s a bit of that spirit in Billy Cousins\u2014no worries, no stress, just a little escape from reality for 2 minutes and 55 seconds.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Beyond <em>Billy Cousins<\/em> \u2013 A Snapshot of &#8216;Troubled Delight&#8217;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The album is packed with real-life moments\u2014joy, conflict, false promises, and even the absurdity found in life\u2019s darkest corners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>&#8216;Ten Minutes&#8217;<\/em> features the bells of Bridgnorth\u2019s St. Leonard\u2019s Church.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>&#8216;Money For The News&#8217;<\/em> incorporates the sliding doors of a Stourbridge shopping center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>&#8216;My Girl\u2019s Gone&#8217;<\/em> includes a snippet from <em>Quatermass and the Pit<\/em>, courtesy of Hammer Films.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>&#8216;The Hill&#8217;<\/em> captures the agony of a grueling 22-mile charity walk (Butler swears he\u2019ll never do it again).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Since his lockdown-era debut &#8216;Bowling Balls&#8217; (inspired by Prince, Bowie, and Ray Bradbury\u2019s <em>The Martian Chronicles<\/em>), SICKY has been making waves.
