Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (aka MoFi, the reissue legends) have dropped the first-ever super high-fidelity<\/em> version of this raucous classic, and yeah, it\u2019s a big deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new release is a numbered 180g 45RPM 2LP set (a mouthful, but trust us, your ears will thank you), lovingly pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing and wrapped in a slick Stoughton gatefold jacket. It\u2019s available now over at mofi.com<\/a>, just waiting to shake up your turntable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, let\u2019s talk why<\/em> this album matters. Originally released in 1973, New York Dolls<\/em> basically kicked off the whole punk-meets-glam thing before either genre had fully found its name. Think: trashy guitars, attitude for days, lipstick, leather, and lyrics that sneer. Rolling Stone called it the 301st Greatest Album of All Time<\/em>, Mojo ranked it 49th, and the track Personality Crisis<\/em> earned a spot among Rolling Stone\u2019s 500 Greatest Songs Ever<\/em>.
